The M5 Features model specific bodywork including aerodynamic front and rear bumpers and M5 badges inlaid to the black body side mouldings. It has a black kidney grille beneath BMW badging, twin dual-beam Xenon headlights and running lights, with fog lights integrated into the valence framing the lower grille. The mirrors are powered, and the sliding and tilting sunroof is tinted.
At the rear, the trunk has a slight spoiler lip, a BMW resin coated badge and a chrome M5 emblem. Twin dual exhaust tips protrude from cutouts below the bumper. 18” BMW badged style 67 “M” double spoke wheels are wrapped in Michelin Sport all season tires measuring 245/40ZR18 at all four wheels. The BMW M5 measures 188 inches long, 71 inches wide, and 57 inches high, with a 111 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 4,024 lbs.
Inside the cabin is seating for five upholstered in Black premium leather. The sport seats up front are 10-way powered and heated, with slide-out thigh supports. The dash is finished with Black leather, and M5 badging is found on the shifter knob, as well as on the door sills. An M5 leather wrapped steering wheel with red and blue stitching fronts an analog instrumentation panel with a 300 km/hr speedometer and a fuel level indicator to the left, and an 8K rpm tachometer and temperature gauge to the right.
Steering is a recirculating ball speed-sensitive design with a 14.7 steering ratio. Comfort, convenience and entertainment features include a trip computer, a BMW flip phone, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual zone climate control, cruise control, powered one-touch windows, illuminated entry, an anti-theft alarm, and navigation with an LCD screen.
Powering the M5 is a naturally aspirated all aluminium 4.9-litre DOHC V8 engine, designated the S62 by BMW. Power is sent from the engine to the rear wheels via a Getrag 420G 6-speed manual transmission. The S62 engine features a dual row timing chain, dual Vanos camshafts and individual throttle bodies for each cylinder inside an intake plenum with a carbon fibre crest reading BMW MPower. The S62 can also be found in the BMW Z8, and is rated at 394 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm when placed into the M5. With MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.
